Our review:

Description:
The farce is with you in this 'uproarious salute to science fiction' (The Hollywood Reporter) that teams comedy legend Mel Brooks with an all-star cast of cutups including John Candy (Splash), Rick Moranis (Ghostbusters) and Bill Pullman (Ruthless People)! When the evil Dark Helmet (Moranis) attempts to steal all the air from planet Druidia, a determined Druish Princess (Daphne Zuniga), a clueless rogue (Pullman) and a half-man/half-dog creature who's his own best friend (Candy) set out to stop him! But with the forces of darkness closing in on them at ludicrous speed, they'll need the help of a wise imp named Yogurt (Brooks) and the mystical power of 'The Schwartz' to bring peaceand merchandising rightsto the entire galaxy!

Amazon.com:
Mel Brooks's 1987 parody of the Star Wars trilogy is a jumble of jokes rather than a comic feature, and, predictably, some of those jokes work better than others. The cast, including Brooks in two roles, more or less mimics the principal characters from George Lucas's famous story line, and the director certainly gets a boost from new allies (SCTV graduates Rick Moranis and John Candy) as well as old ones (Dick Van Patten, Dom DeLuise). Watch this and wait for the sporadic inspiration--but don't be surprised if you find yourself yearning for those years when Brooks was a more complete filmmaker (Young Frankenstein). --Tom Keogh

Buyer Testimonials
Average Buyer's Review: out of 5 stars

Buyer's review: 5 out of 5 stars - Love it!
I didn't know about this movie till about 2001-2002 when it came out on DVD, but when I first saw it I fell in love.
I've seen it about 10 times already, and still laugh every time. Mel Brooks is a genuous!
I love the audio commentary on the DVD, and the video screen menu.
The acting and sound quality was great for a 1980's movie.
Overall awesome Parody Movie, not like any of the ones you see today, like Epic Movies and stuff like that. (This Parody is a WHOLE lot better then those).

Haven't seen it? You need to. :)

Buyer's review: 4 out of 5 stars - fun
It's probably funny because I'm a Star Wars fanboy. I'll admit to it. Don't expect everything from this movie and you won't be disappointed. It's just simple fun, not to be too overly analyzed. Way better than those damn Scary (or Epic, or Superhero, or Not Another Teen) Movies.

Buyer's review: 5 out of 5 stars - Good mindless humor
This isn't as good as his earlier films IMO, but that doesn't mean its not a good movie. Nothing academy award winning, but its not bad. Sure there are some corny jokes..ok, a lot of corny jokes, but if you don't find at least one part funny there is something wrong with you. If you liked Robin Hood: Men In Tights you will definitely like this one.

Buyer's review: 4 out of 5 stars - Hilarious -- this is the best Star Wars episode
What a great parody on a lot of different movies. I enjoy watching it just to get a good laugh. It's simply hilarious, but it's not for those who take Star Wars religiously. They'll undoubtedly be offended at it. I'd cut out a couple of obscene scenes, but other than that, it's pretty clean and simply funny.

Buyer's review: 5 out of 5 stars - A great product
This movie is everything I could have hoped for. It is a classic Mel Brooks' spoof movie that humorously mimics Star Wars. This movie stars a lot of well-known actors such as Rick Moranis(Dark Helmet), John Candy(Barf), Bill Pullman(Lone Starr), and Mel Brooks(President Skroob). If you like Mel Brooks, then you will definetly enjoy this movie.
